Intergenerational Wellbeing
As social license and conscious consumerism drive the need for transparency, cultural awareness, authenticity, and environmental stewardship, the financial and investment sectors face a challenge. They must create impactful solutions that resonate with investors and support the intergenerational change future generations demand.
To bring about a future where a high standard of environmental stewardship, social equity, economic prosperity, and connected communities is prevalent, we need leaders with the vision to create the change, and people with courage to embrace the vision.
In te ao Māori the concept of kāinga embodies a group of whare that connect villages/small communities through whanaungatanga, whenua, and tikanga. These living structures were a centre for community wellbeing enhancing safety, healthy lifestyles, social inclusion and participation, economic security and active involvement in wealth creation.
As leaders in commercial property, Te Iho Nuku will support intergenerational wellbeing by re-envisaging kāinga in the modern context, by enabling thriving and connected communities and supporting positive community behaviours. Buildings play an important role in connecting communities. They form part of the mauri or living ecosystem which we interact with. Buildings provide places for people and communities to come together, to continue the legacy of a site’s history and significance and help to nurture communities’ physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

Our intent
Our goal is to enable positive social and environmental outcomes through enduring relationships, strong leadership, and a focus on sustainability, in addition to providing regular returns and potential for growth in value over time. We intend to:
Create intergenerational wellbeing for tāngata and taiao, through a combination of:
implementing an emissions reduction plan with the aim of working towards net zero carbon emissions of the properties Te Iho Nuku manages, doing this through the reduction of waste, refrigerants, air pollutants, operational and embodied carbon while conserving natural resources ahead of off-setting emissions;
improving the overall environmental and social impact of Te Iho Nuku and its investments under management;
supporting Iwi delivery on social and environmental goals by delivering regular cash income to investors; and
providing access to community and social benefits to create prosperity.
Be a values-driven leader in the commercial property sector, which respects and celebrates culture in line with te ao Māori and places the wellbeing of tangata whenua at the heart of decision making.
Develop enduring relationships with all stakeholders.
