The Board

The Board’s role is one of governance. The Board sets the Manager’s strategy, oversees its management and key policies, and is ultimately responsible for managing risk and protecting the interests of its limited partners and stakeholders (including Unitholders).

  • Wayne descends from the Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāti Pūkenga, Ngāti Hinerangi and Ngāti Raukawa iwi. He joined the PMG Board as Non-Executive Director in September 2017. With over 25 years’ experience in the financial services industry, he brings extensive management and governance experience across many NZX, PNGX and ASX-listed companies and local government entities. Wayne holds a Doctorate in Business Administration, Bachelor’s degrees in Law and Arts, and has a specialised Master of Business Administration in Fnance and Risk from Deakin University in Melbourne.

    Wayne is also Managing Director of Pacific Advisory Services which provides governance, risk and asset management advice, and is a Fellow of both the Australia New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance, the Institute of Management New Zealand and a Chartered Fellow Institute of Directors.

  • Temuera descends from Ngāti Tūwharetoa and Te Arawa iwi. Temuera is the co-founder and Managing Director of TAHITO, a world first indigenous ethical investment services company. Temuera is passionate about exploring pathways to draw on indigenous wisdom and values to create better contemporary societies. Temuera believes that re-establishing lost connections and better integrating people with their environment are key to greater and more equitable standards of living for all communities.

    Temuera has been involved in business development, asset management and investment advice since 1994. He continues to bring his experience and knowledge of indigenous Māori values and principles into his governance business management, private equity and funds management roles.

    Temuera has led or played a key leadership role in numerous significant investment collaborations and partnerships with Māori Asset Holding entities. His expertise also incorporates instilling organizational values and culture, driving “kaupapa based” investment strategies and building enduring relationships.

  • Hailing from Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Tia is a Chartered Accountant, with 13 years’ experience in the Māori economy and finance sectors, wellbeing, and climate change.

    With a background in tax and audit, Tia has also been a key lead and author contributing to national developments in tax reform (The Tax Working Group), wellbeing (He Ara Waiora | The Treasury New Zealand), land optimisation (Find your Māori land | Tūhono whenua (tupu.nz)), climate change resilience and adaptation at the Climate Change Commission (Ināia tonu nei: a low emissions future for Aotearoa), and Maui.Tech: Iwi/Māori case studies » Climate Change Commission (climatecommission.govt.nz).

    In addition to her role as Chief Financial Officer at Tupu Angitu Limited, Tia is also an Independent Director on New Zealand Rural Land Company and holds various Trustee and support roles across Iwi/Māori Trusts, Charities, and Incorporations.

    Tia is also an active member of her hapū and provides support to a broad range of hapū and marae initiatives.

  • With over two decades in business and 12 years specialising in funds management and commercial real estate, Scott is the driving force behind PMG’s innovative strategy. He honed his leadership skills in the New Zealand and UK banking sectors, and holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Valuation and Management from Lincoln University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from Waikato University.

    In addition to his role as CEO and Director of PMG, Scott is a board member of Priority One (Tauranga’s economic development agency), a founding board member of the Urban Taskforce for Tauranga, founding trustee for PMG Charitable Trust, and director of Forsite (technology business).

Our Investment Committee

The Investment Committee is a subcommittee of the Board and responsible for providing governance oversight of the Manager and Outsourced Manager’s activities impacting on the management of the Fund and its investment management strategies, key investment policies and investment decisions.

The Investment Committee applies a Te Whakatipurawa lens to ensure that all investment decisions of the Manager, and certain other agreed decisions and matters, are consistent with identified principles of te ao Māori and with the Manager’s values, Code of Conduct and sustainability strategy.

The Investment Committee recommends suitable investment opportunities that the Manager intends to acquire and manage for the Fund, with the Board holding ultimate authority over such investment decisions for the Fund in the best interests of Unitholders.

  • Daniel has 20 years’ experience in asset and project management, commercial leasing and structured property finance. As a previous Director and Head of Tenant Representation for Jones Lang LaSalle (JLL), Daniel represented tenants including Microsoft, IBM, Unisys, and the New Zealand Government. Daniel was also the joint Fund Manager of Danube Property Funds I and II, where he acquired and managed €100m worth of commercial assets across Eastern Europe.

    Daniel’s property management company merged with PMG in 2015. He chairs the PMG Investment Committee, sources new investment opportunities, and oversees project management of major repositioning and redevelopment of specific assets. Daniel holds a Bachelor of Science and is a Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors.

  • He Uri a Michael nō Te waka ō Te Arawa (Mai Maketū ki Tongariro), Tauranga Moana me Te Tai Tokerau hoki.

    Michael has a breadth of experience across the public and private sector in roles focussed on achieveing economic and commercial returns, alongside realising the aspirations of communities, whānau, hapū and iwi.

    His most recent experience and roles include being the Head of Investment and Development at Rotorua NZ, Chief Executive Officer of Rotomā No 1 Incorporation.

    Currently, Michael is the GM Investment (and acting CEO) for Tupu Angitu and hold director positions across a range of Māori shareholder entities.

  • Nigel joined PMG as its Chief Financial Officer in August 2016 after 13 years at KPMG, where he led a team in the Private Enterprise division, advising a wide range of small to medium businesses on compliance and business transactions.

    During his tenure, Nigel played a pivotal role in strengthening the company’s financial reporting, compliance and strategic property acquisitions. Under his leadership, PMG became one of the few unlisted property funds managers to secure a Managed Investment Scheme Licence from the Financial Markets Authority (FMA).

    He also led PMG’s compliance efforts in relation to AML regulations and public investment oversight. In 2021, Nigel was named SME Finance Leader of the Year at the CFO Awards in recognition of his contributions to the industry.

    After stepping down as CFO in 2024, Nigel transitioned to a governance role and now serves on the PMG Board of Directors, Investment Committee, and the Board of the PMG Charitable Trust.

    His deep financial expertise and regulatory experience provides valuable oversight and strategic direction to PMG.

  • Matt joined PMG in April 2015 to develop the sales and investor relationships team for the business. He has extensive experience in business development and relationship management, finance, and compliance after a banking career for BNZ. Matt holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration from Victoria University, and holds a New Zealand Certificate in Financial Services and a New Zealand Certificate in Real Estate.

    Matt also sits on the board of Enterprise Angels and is a member of the Institute of Directors NZ. Matt has a passion and commitment to ensuring a best-in-market service to investors and professional partners and ensures PMG’s investment products are promoted in a compliant and ethical manner.

  • Steve has over 30 years of property expertise, consulting to PMG from 2013 and joining PMG as a shareholder and employee in 2017 in the role of Head of Asset Management. He transitioned to the Head of Transactions role in May 2020.

    Steve’s key responsibilities are to drive the acquisition and disposal of properties managed by PMG. Steve holds a UK property degree (BA Hons), is a Licensed Agent under the Real Estate Agents Act 2008 (REAA) and is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS).
